Robot Detective Keiji K is one of my favorite Japanese characters. He is a obviously a robot with an amazing sense of fashion. Nobody is going to notice a guy in a red suit and bright yellow hat. Variations of him have popped all over the place from Street Fighter to the anime METROPOLIS…
I plan on drawing him in robot-mode and then a version with guns blazing. Strangely, when he sheds his suit his eyes change to red, and when the guns come out his body turns red with blue face stripes. He’s a very complex fellow.

I thought I’d try my hand at Wolverine. I’ve always preferred the short squat version of him… make him seem more feral… more like his namesake. I plan to eventually draw my other favorite Marvel characters.
In the meantime, I think I’m going to start working in pen and ink instead of digital for my drawings… then bring them in tho the old computer and color them up.

It has been WAY to long since I last posted. Busy with work and busy with life… but it’s a GOOD busy! Here is a little drawing of one of my favorite characters from Star Wars. Nien Nunb. He was Lando’s co-pilot on the second destruction of the Death Star… quite the cheerful little fella.

A friend in Hawaii had a store named Split Obsession that sold vinyl toys and apparel. He asked if I was interested in designing a shirt that integrated my art style with his logo (a sort of figure 8 on it side with an extra loop.) I said sure and decided it would be fun to have a bunch of guys fighting in the shape of his logo. Since his shop was in Hawaii, Kikaida seemed a natural fit. Well, I bit off more than I could chew and it took longer than I thought to complete. By the time I was 3/4 of the way through, the economy took its toll and he was forced to close shop. I still need to finish the thing. Here is the early sketch.

Kikaida… again. These were actually my first drawings of the characters and kinda defined my style from that point forward. It is a variation of the Superdeformed style… big heads and small bodies.

My wife is from Hawaii and growing up her favorite show was an import from Japan called Kikaida. She showed me a couple episode and I was hooked. I wound up drawing most of the main characters. These two pieces are of the hero, Jiro, in and out of costume. Check out the site Generation Kikaida… you won’t be sorry!

Every year, the San Diego Comic Con has a program filled with drawings from fans based on certain comic related themes. And every year I say to myself, because I’m cocky, “Damn, I draw as well as these people. I should submit somethin’!” So this year, I did. The theme was 1986.

I have been sketching my version of Bigfoot since I was a kid, but I finally stumbled upon a version I like… If I was a hairy beast living in the woods, I know I would have enough modesty to put on a pair of shorts… and possibly a headband.
